Testo 410-1: A Compact Vane Anemometer That Goes the Distance – 30mm Vane with Wind Chill & Beaufort

You don't need a smartphone to go about measuring the air velocity around you. The Testo 410-1 compact vane anemometer has a built-in display, so you can take that into a dark cellar, a dusty attic or just about anywhere else, and still get your readings. It measures air velocity from 0.4 to 20 m/s, temperature from -10 to +50°C, all wrapped up in a neat 133 × 46 × 25mm package - easy enough to tuck into your shirt pocket. And the single-point averaging, hold function, max/min recording and illuminated display all get a mention because, let's face it, you're going to want to make the most of that gadget. Plus, a calibration protocol is included as standard.

The Testo 410-1 is a bit of a lone wolf in the Testo anemometer stable - it's a standalone tool that doesn't need a connected smartphone to work. Unlike the 410i, which relies on the Testo Smart App to show you the data and help you manage it, the 410-1 is a self-contained unit with its own lit-up display, single-point averaging, hold function, max/min recording and a battery life that'll see you through 100 hours of daily use. Just flick the switch, take your reading and - job done.

The permanently mounted 30mm vane on the Testo 410-1 is exactly the thing you'd need to get accurate air velocity readings at those tricky ventilation grilles and air outlets. And since it's just as happy outdoors as it is in the workshop, Beaufort wind force and wind chill temperature calculations mean it's got real value in the field for environmental assessments, outdoor surveys and any kind of project where wind is going to be a big factor. And you can switch between all sorts of units - m/s, km/h, fpm, mph, kts, Beaufort (yeah, that's wind force for you non-sailors) and temperature units like °C, °F and wind chill. You can bet that's going to be a big selling point when you're quoting your work. The wrist strap, protective cap and calibration protocol all get a mention too - it's all there in the box, ready to roll.
