Genuine replacement diaphragm membrane for the Innovita Primo 6 and Primo 11 instantaneous gas water heaters. The diaphragm membrane is the flexible seal in the water section that flexes under water pressure to open the gas valve and activate the burner — a split, perforated or hardened diaphragm is one of the most common causes of ignition failure on multi-point gas water heaters. Fits both Primo 6 and Primo 11.
Common Problems This Part Fixes
Appliance fails to fire when hot water tap is opened — The diaphragm membrane must flex correctly under water pressure to open the gas circuit. A split, perforated or permanently deformed diaphragm cannot generate the pressure differential needed to activate the gas valve, so the burner will not fire.
Appliance fires intermittently — A partially degraded diaphragm that is losing elasticity may activate the gas valve inconsistently — the burner fires on some draws but not others, or cuts out mid-draw.
Appliance fires but flame is weak or cuts out quickly — A diaphragm that is partially blocked or stiffened from age may not open the gas valve fully, resulting in an undersized flame that may not heat water adequately before the valve closes again.
Diaphragm found split or hardened at annual service — Rubber diaphragms degrade over time — splitting, hardening or perforating through age and water chemistry exposure. Annual service inspection should include checking the diaphragm condition.
