The Testo 770-3 is the most advanced model in Testo's clamp meter range, combining True RMS measurement with a retractable pincer arm, Bluetooth connectivity to the Testo Smart App, and an extended set of measurement functions. It measures current up to 600A AC/DC via the clamp (with improved resolution in the lower current range), voltage up to 1000V AC and DC, resistance, capacitance, frequency, power, continuity, diode and temperature via an included Type K adapter.
Like the 770-1, the retractable pincer arm folds back into the instrument body and then extends to clamp around individual cables in tightly packed consumer units and panels — reaching cables a fixed-jaw clamp can't get around. The Bluetooth link streams readings live to a smartphone or tablet via the Testo Smart App, so values can be monitored from a safe distance or logged by a second person while work continues, with measurement curve graphs, photos and comments addable to exported reports.
A μA measuring range (0.1 to 600μA AC/DC) via the measuring leads supports gas valve coil, ignitor and other low-current diagnostics, and inrush current capture records the peak starting surge at motor or compressor start-up — particularly useful for HVAC and refrigeration engineers. Power measurement covers active, reactive and apparent power along with power factor.
It's rated CAT IV 600V and CAT III 1000V, with a 6,000 count two-line backlit display and 11MΩ internal resistance to reduce ghost voltage issues. The Premium Kit adds crocodile clips, micro clips, a magnetic holder and transport bag to the standard kit contents.
Bluetooth connectivity is the standout addition over the rest of the 770 range — being able to monitor readings from a safe distance, or have a colleague log data while hands stay free for the job, changes how certain measurements can be carried out.
