The Testo 417 Kit 1 is a 100mm integrated vane anemometer for measuring air velocity, volume flow and temperature at vents, grilles and air handling outlets. It connects to the free Testo Smart App via Bluetooth, so readings can be displayed, configured and documented directly from a smartphone, and it calculates time and point average values automatically rather than requiring manual working-out on site.
Velocity is measured from 0.3 to 20 m/s with an accuracy of ±(0.1 m/s + 1.5% of mv), and temperature from 0°C to +50°C with ±0.5°C accuracy via an NTC sensor, giving a combined picture of airflow and temperature from one instrument.
Kit 1 includes a funnel set, which is what separates it from the standard version. At irregular grilles, tight spots or swirl outlets, taking a direct vane reading gives only a rough estimate — the funnel set brings volume flow measurement into a usable range of 0 to 440 m³/h for these conditions. Without it, readings at these outlet types are considerably less reliable.
The instrument includes a data hold function for reading the display in awkward positions, a backlight for low-light conditions, and runs on 3 x AA batteries for a rated 50-hour battery life. At 243g with an ABS/PC housing and TPE protection, it's built for regular use on site.
The funnel set is what sets Kit 1 apart from the standard Testo 417 — at irregular grilles and tight spots, it's the difference between a rough estimate and a reliable volume flow reading.
