A threaded gas joint needs a seal in the thread, and gas fittings need tape made for gas. This 12mm wide, 5m long roll of PTFE thread sealing tape is made to BS EN 751-3, the standard for PTFE tape on threaded joints in contact with natural gas and LPG, so you can wrap it round the male thread before you screw the fitting together.
PTFE is chemically inert, so it doesn’t react with the gas it seals. The tape is for tapered or parallel metal threads that are designed to seal on the thread.
