This 450mm propane pigtail connects a cylinder to a W20 regulator, with one key difference from a standard pigtail: the cylinder end uses a handwheel POL fitting instead of a plain nut, so it can be connected and disconnected by hand without a spanner.
This is a straight-through (ST) design with no non-return valve or excess flow valve fitted in the hose. The handwheel fitting is purely for easy connection and disconnection at the cylinder end — if you need built-in backflow protection there, an NR pigtail is the correct specification instead. At the regulator end, the W20 nut still needs to be tightened with a spanner as normal.
The hose is manufactured to EN 16436-1 Class 3, rated to 30 bar working pressure and 90 bar burst pressure. It's UK manufactured and approved by Calor Gas.
The handwheel fitting is the main reason to choose this over a standard pigtail — for anyone changing cylinders on tour, not needing a spanner at the cylinder end genuinely speeds things up and means one less tool to carry.
