Description

32mm Electrofusion Gas Distribution Valve – PE Ball Valve for MDPE (PE80) Gas Pipe

Isolating a section of gas pipework, whether to work on it or to control a supply, needs a valve that’s as strong as the pipe it’s fitted into. This PE ball valve is made for 32mm MDPE (PE80) gas pipe and is joined to the pipe using electrofusion fittings, so there are no threaded or mechanical connections to the pipe.

It’s a quarter-turn valve, closing clockwise, to EN 1555-4, with very low operating torque and flow in either direction. The body is black PE-HD 100 polyethylene to EN 1555-1, made from 100% virgin resin, with a stated operating life of 50 years and an operating temperature range of -20°C to +40°C. It’s a low and medium pressure valve rated up to 10 bar (MOP10). The internal design reduces pressure drop, and the manufacturer states a significant guard angle of 8° minimum.

The valve is externally sealed against water, dust, sand and alluviums, and needs no maintenance. The spigots are double length, so two welds can be made, and they are protected from external pollution such as dust until the valve is installed. It’s supplied for natural gas and LPG, and the supplier states it is BSI approved and Kitemarked to GIS/PL2-4 and BS EN 1555.

Electrofusion needs a compatible electrofusion control unit, correct pipe preparation and a trained installer. The maximum operating pressure depends on the standard and the installation, so always check the valve’s packaging label. Gas work must be carried out by a suitably qualified, registered gas installer in accordance with the relevant standards.
