A union or flat-seat joint seals on its washer, so a worn or missing washer means a leak. These Regin 3/4" fibre washers are replacement sealing washers, supplied 4 to a pack, made from non-asbestos fibre to BS 7531 grade Y.
Each washer measures 24mm outside diameter x 17.3mm inside diameter x 1.5mm thick. They’re suitable for oils, fuels, low pressure steam and water, and Regin states they have excellent resistance to gas leakage. They’re made with a WRAS-approved material suitable for potable water and natural gas. The recommended maximum temperature is 300°C (180°C for steam).
Use them on flat-seat connections such as unions, and follow the fitting maker’s instructions. A joint that seals on a washer doesn’t need PTFE tape or sealant. Gas work must be carried out by a suitably qualified, registered gas installer in accordance with the relevant standards.
