Rigid gas pipework means a lot of cutting, bending and jointing, and every extra joint is another place a leak could develop. Gastite P2 is flexible stainless steel tube that can be routed round obstacles in a single length, so there are fewer joints to make and check.
What sets P2 apart is its sleeving. The corrugated stainless steel tube (CSST) comes with an integrated containment sleeve, compatible with Gastite XR2 fittings, and an outer sleeve with a ribbed underside that creates space between the sleeves. If gas were to leak, that space lets it ventilate instead of being trapped. The sleeves are UV-resistant polyethylene, and the tube is 1.4306 (304L) stainless steel.
This 45m coil of DN25 P2 suits longer runs, where you cut the length you need and fit matching connections. Gastite states that P2 has been fully tested to comply with the CSST Benchmark scheme and all NHBC 2022 warranty requirements, conforms to Euroclass reaction to fire rating B-s1, d0, and has been tested and passed by two UKAS-accredited assessors. The pipe itself is fire tested at 820°C for 89 minutes under EN 1775:2007 Annex A.
This is tube only. It’s used only with Gastite XR2 fittings with Jacket-Lock®, which are bought separately. Gastite P2 is not suitable for use as a flexible appliance connector. It must be installed in accordance with Gastite’s installation instructions (a product-specific P2 Design & Installation guide is available from Gastite). Gas work must be carried out by a suitably qualified, registered gas installer in accordance with the relevant standards.
If the pipe has to run somewhere gas could collect, P2’s ribbed outer sleeve is designed to give it room to ventilate. A 30m coil lets you cut exactly the length you need without joining shorter pieces, and the flexible tube needs fewer fittings than rigid pipe. Gastite states it’s been tested to meet the CSST Benchmark scheme and NHBC 2022 warranty requirements.
