Compression Copper Olive - 8mm

The olive is the small ring that makes a compression joint work: when the nut is tightened it deforms around the pipe and seals between the pipe and the fitting body. This 8mm copper olive is for 8mm copper pipe, and it gives a tight mechanical seal without heat, flux or solder.
It suits hot and cold water services, heating installations and low-pressure natural gas and LPG pipework, which makes it useful where soldering isn't safe or practical, such as confined or heat-sensitive spaces. It's intended for use with BS EN 1254-2 compression fittings. Where used on natural gas or LPG, EN 1254-2 fittings are limited to a maximum operating pressure of 5 bar in accordance with EN 1775, and gas work must be carried out by a suitably qualified, registered gas installer.
An olive is a one-use part. Once it has been compressed onto a pipe it shouldn't be reused on a different pipe, so keep spares to hand when remaking joints.
The olive is the part of a compression joint most likely to need replacing, and it can't safely be reused once it has been compressed. Keeping 6mm olives in stock means a joint can be remade correctly the first time, without a second trip for a part that costs very little.
