Zinc-plated balanced flue terminal guard for low-level installations. BS 5440 Part 1 recommends the use of a terminal guard where a balanced flue terminal is installed at low level — to protect it from physical damage and to prevent contact with the terminal. 11"(279mm) diameter, 6.5" (165mm) deep. Zinc plated for corrosion resistance.
BS 5440 Part 1 (Installation and maintenance of flues and ventilation for gas appliances of rated input not exceeding 70kW) includes recommendations on when a terminal guard should be fitted to a balanced flue terminal. The primary reasons are two-fold: to protect the terminal from physical damage when installed at low level where it could be knocked or struck; and to prevent people (particularly children) from making contact with a hot terminal. A terminal guard is typically required when the bottom of the terminal is less than 2 metres above ground level and is accessible.
